Canadian Red Cross Relief Efforts

Thrifty Foods believes strongly in the work of the Canadian Red Cross. For over twenty years we have been active supporters of relief programs including their annual emergency preparedness and volunteer training events as well as disaster response to local families in need.

Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund

As part of relief efforts following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, customers and staff raised over $54,000 as part of the Thrifty Foods Japan Relief Drive. The funds were directly donated to the Canadian Red Cross to provide emergency supplies where they were needed most.

Help for Haiti

Together, Thrifty Foods staff and customers raised over $45,000 which was matched by the Federal Government of Canada for a resulting grand total of over $97,600 in donations to the Canadian Red Cross. Thank you to all British Columbians for making a world of difference to the families who are contending with one of the largest and most tragic disasters in modern times.
