Finding a Cure
In an effort to help improve the quality of life in our communities, we are proud to support hospitals and organizations that are fighting to find a cure for cancer.
Cure By Chocolate
Thrifty Foods, in partnership with Rogers' Chocolates, raises funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation through our in-store Cure by Chocolate campaign. To date, Cure by Chocolate to date has raised over $103,000 for breast cancer research.
In 2011, more than 9,700 customers bit into a sweet Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Raspberry Swirl Chocolate treat to help support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Between October 5th and 18th, 2011 all Thrifty Foods stores offered this guilt-free pleasure at tills for $2.70 each with $1.70 being donated. With your support $16,500.20 was raised with funds going to critical research, patient care and supporting ongoing educational programs. Giving is sweet!
In 2010, we raised over $20,000 for the Foundation and presented a cheque to Ledford Lilley, Treasurer of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation at our North Vancouver store opening in November 2010.

Run for the Cure
Thrifty Foods participates in Run for the Cure in both Victoria and Nanaimo. In 2010, Thrifty Foods raised over $3,200 for the Run. A big thank you to our staff who collected pledges, raised funds, helped to feed runners on the race day and ran or walked the race.
Cops for Cancer
In 2011, we proudly supported another one of our store employees, James Matsuda, who rode in the Vancouver Island route and we collectively raised $100,000 for childhood cancer research. All funds raised goes directly towards childhood cancer research and support programs, such as Camp Goodtimes.
Delta Walk for Health
Thrifty Foods sponsors the Walk for Health - a fundraiser for the Delta Hospital Foundation - by providing nourishment and energy to participants. In 2010, about 260 walkers raised over $57,000!
MS Walk
Our Thrifty Foods volunteers feed over 650 participants at the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada Walk in Victoria. Event participants walk through Oak Bay and then gather at Willows Beach Park for lunch and a celebration with music and entertainment.
