Job Summary
The staff pharmacist is responsible for supporting the Pharmacy Manager in serving the community by providing customer service, professional pharmaceutical care and maintains compliance with the Standards of Practice of the College. The Staff Pharmacist provides drug and health related information, compounding and dispensing of prescribed pharmaceuticals, and consultative services to both clients as well as health care providers. The Staff Pharmacist demonstrates outstanding leadership, superior judgement and decision making, and commitment to the success of the Thrifty Foods team.
Job Requirements
- Maintaining and supporting a professional and supportive relationship with the Pharmacy Manager.
- Respects the professional relationship with the patient and acts with honesty, integrity, and compassion; honors the individual needs, values and dignity of the patient.
- Supports the company’s vision and customer service philosophies, merchandising programs, pricing programs, and labor programs to ensure conformity throughout the company.
- Complies with all Pharmacy and related procedures and programs to comply with company, provincial, and federal regulations. Responsibilities include dispensing, customer consultation, and continuity of care amongst necessary health care providers.
- As part of the College quality management program, remain current of all prescription and non-prescription medications, disease states, and health aids; ultimately endeavoring to ensure that the practice environment contributes to safe and effective pharmacy care.
- Participation of clinic days and other programs that ensure the continuity of patient care
- Respects the values and abilities of colleagues and other health care professionals.
- Supports each Pharmacy Manager in the achievement of their annual goals and objectives.
- Profession Pharmaceutical Care, including: maintain current and accurate patient medication history, contacts physician when prescribing accuracy questionable, documentation of course of action is pharmaceutical intervention, patient counseling, review of printed information with patients, monitors compliance and helps patient improve quality of life, ensures technical responsibilities of pharmacy technicians are fulfilled allowing pharmacists time to practice pharmaceutical care.
- Knowledge & Experience:
- Must be a licensed Pharmacist in the province of British Columbia.
- Must be a member in good standing with a College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Must have excellent oral and written communications for dealing with employees, customers, vendors, and health care providers.
- Must have a basic understanding of word, excel, and power point.
- Leadership training an asset.
