Victoria, B.C., September 23, 2009
- Thrifty Foods today launched its first-ever rewards program, Club Thrifty Foods, that enables registered customers to collect and redeem points based on the food and grocery items they buy.
Joining the program is free and members receive one Club Thrifty Foods point for every whole dollar spent. Once sufficient points have been acquired, they can be redeemed for dollars-off purchases in-store or for items featured in a rewards catalogue. Alternatively, Club Thrifty Foods points can be automatically converted to Aeroplan Miles at a rate of one Aeroplan mile for every two Club Thrifty Foods points.
Customers can also earn bonus points (and collect points faster) by taking advantage of in-store offers and promotions at all Thrifty Foods stores.
"We have been monitoring the rewards program opportunity for many years," says Malcolm Webster, Vice-President of Marketing for Thrifty Foods, "we want to recognize and thank customers for shopping with us by giving them added-value on their grocery purchases."
"Now that we're part of Sobeys, we have the resources, such as new cash registers that enable us to track and redeem Club Thrifty Foods points, to provide a program that we believe offers the most value to our customers," he added.
Webster asserts that a Club Thrifty Foods program will be welcomed by shoppers who, by and large, look for and appreciate added-value in their grocery purchases. It's easy to register for the program, easy to earn points, and members have three choices on how to redeem their points. He further stressed that the program will adhere to the strictest standards of privacy and confidentiality governing the manner in which customer information is gathered and used for registration to - and use of - Club Thrifty Foods.
As part of the launch of Club Thrifty Foods customers will be greeted at all Thrifty Foods stores by signage, registration tables and printed materials outlining the benefits of joining the program. Visitors to http://www.clubthriftyfoods.com/

The Club Thrifty Foods card may be used at all Thrifty Foods stores, as well as all Sobeys banner stores in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.
