Victoria, BC, February 10, 2010
- From February 10 to February 23, 2010, Thrifty Foods will run an in-store promotion with Becel benefiting the vital work of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon.
Thrifty Foods will donate 50 cents to the Heart and Stroke Foundation from every Becel margarine container sold at each of their 23 locations on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.
"We are so grateful to Thrifty Foods for their continuous support of this important cause," said Danny DeSouza, Corporate Manager, Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon. "Each dollar raised moves us one step closer to our vision of generations free from heart disease and stroke."
Across Canada, more than $1.1 billion has been invested by the Heart and Stroke Foundation into research support since the 1950s. Since then, the death rate from heart disease and stroke has been reduced by 70%. Closer to home, more than 15,000 passionate volunteers in over 100 communities, and tens of thousands of generous donors across BC and the Yukon, work together to improve the health of those who are living with, or at risk of, heart disease and stroke.
