South Surrey, BC, February 3, 2010
- Thrifty Foods today celebrates the grand opening of its newest grocery store, located in Morgan Crossing in South Surrey, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Thrifty Foods executives, civic dignitaries and members of the community.
Grand opening festivities commence at 9:30 a.m., with the store officially opening and welcoming its first customers at 10:00 a.m. The first 1000 customers receive a carnation in honour of the opening and customers at the checkouts receive two reusable shopping bags with their grocery order. As a company that is well-known for always giving back to the community in which it does business, Thrifty Foods will present a significant donation to the Peace Arch Hospital as part of the Grand Opening celebration.
"We're delighted to be a part of the South Surrey community," says Milford Sorensen, President & CEO, Thrifty Foods. "Our Morgan Crossing store joins its sister stores in Coquitlam, Tsawwassen and Port Moody, as one of four stores now serving the Lower Mainland."
The full-service store is the company's 23rd retail grocery location and features a Wood Stone Pizza Oven and self-serve salad bar in the deli, a walk-in cooler in the floral department, and an in-store Cooking and Lifestyle Centre with a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen where acclaimed chefs will offer classes.
About Thrifty Foods
From a single store opening in Victoria's Fairfield community in 1977, Thrifty Foods has grown, in 2010, to a chain of twenty-three locations throughout Vancouver Island and the BC Lower Mainland.
