Abbotsford, BC, October 6, 2010
- Thrifty Foods today celebrates the grand opening of its newest grocery store, located at Parallel Marketplace in Abbotsford, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Thrifty Foods executives, civic dignitaries and members of the community.
Grand opening festivities commence at 9:30 a.m., with the store officially opening and welcoming its first customers at 10:00 a.m. In honour of the opening, free offers will be on hand throughout the store and customers at the checkouts receive one reusable shopping bag with their grocery order. Coffee, cake and live entertainment by the Abbotsford Collegiate High School Jazz Band will also be provided.
"We're delighted to be a part of the Abbotsford community," says Milford Sorensen, President & CEO, Thrifty Foods. "Our Parallel Marketplace store joins its sister stores in Coquitlam, Tsawwassen, Port Moody, and South Surrey as one of five stores now serving the Lower Mainland."
The full-service store is the company's first retail grocery location in the Fraser Valley and features a live seafood tank, an island showcasing dozens of international cheeses, in-store bakery, and fresh cut fruits and vegetables island. In addition to fresh, full service meat, deli and seafood departments, customers can also shop for their health and wellness needs at the full-service Pharmacy and Vitamins and More department.
