Fairfield Customers, Quarter Century Club Members and Community Groups Join Birthday Festivities
- Thrifty Foods General Manager Jim Dores, Thrifty Foods Store Manager Jim Fuller and three Quarter Century Club employees welcome guests to the thirty-fifth birthday celebrations with members, past and present, of Thrifty Foods
first sponsored community group, the Beacon Hill Little League on Saturday, December 1.
"This day marks the grand opening of our very first store in the Fairfield neighbourhood of Victoria in December 1977," said Jim Dores. "I, alongside our 72 Quarter Century Club members (staff with more than 25 years of service) and our over 4,800 employees, take this opportunity to thank our incredibly loyal customers and our longstanding community partners who count Thrifty Foods as their very own."
The Fairfield celebrations include 35 years of photo history, a specially-designed 'timeline' birthday cake, free coffee and in-store sampling to thank lifelong customers, long-term employees past and present, Thrifty Foods Sendial volunteers and local community groups supported by the Fairfield store and the organization over the last three and half decades.
"Since that very first year of business, Thrifty Foods has supported our league and ensured that young children have had access to a great sport," said Gus Niketas, original member of the 1977 Beacon Hill Little League team and Fairfield shopper. "To this day, Thrifty Foods continues their support of our non-profit group and we are extremely grateful for their ongoing generosity and their passion for kids' sport in our community."
From launching Sendial for those in need twenty-five years ago to fundraising with local hospital foundations, food banks, schools, arts programs and athletes of all ages, Thrifty Foods provides funding and food to hundreds of groups throughout the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and on Saltspring Island.
