Cops for Cancer

Since 2000, Thrifty Foods has proudly supported the bicycle riders participating in Cops for Cancer events on the Mainland and Vancouver Island. Thrifty Foods also provides members of the teams with nourishing food and transportation.
In 2011, we proudly supported one of our store employees, James Matsuda, who rode in the Vancouver Island route and Thrifty Foods raised $101,000 as a donation to the Tour!
Delta Hospital Foundation
Thrifty Foods proudly support the Delta Hospital Foundation through an annual sponsorship to support their fundraising initiatives for the Delta Hospital.
Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada - MS Walk
Our Thrifty Foods volunteers feed over 650 participants at the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada Walk in Victoria. Event participants walk through Oak Bay and then gather at Willows Beach Park for lunch and a celebration with music and entertainment.

VISIONS Gala Fundraiser
The Victoria Hospitals Foundation annually hosts a wonderful gala event supporting both the Royal Jubilee Hospital and Victoria General Hospital. Thrifty Foods has supported this event for many years through food donations and items for the sought after auction during the event.
One of employee's favorite volunteer events of the year is visiting with the children staying at the Victoria General Hospital during the Christmas season and building gingerbread houses with the children and their families.
Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation
Lotto for Life
The Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation has raised funds for Central Vancouver Island Health Care Facilities through the Lotto for Life campaign. Thrifty Foods supports this fundraiser through a donation of Smile Cards to be used as prizes.
BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities
Thrifty Foods is proud to have supported both the 24 Hour Relay and Easter Seals Regatta in Victoria and Vancouver for many years. Our staff assemble teams and raise funds to participate in these events benefiting children with disabilities throughout BC. We also provide volunteers, food donations, cash sponsorships, and fundraising in our stores.

Through events throughout the year, we provide cash donations, volunteers, food donations, and event participation, helping the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children to continue supporting the children of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
BC Children's Hospital Foundation
The BC Children's Hospital Foundation fundraises throughout BC to support child health in BC. In addition to the events below, our employees visit both the BC Children's Hospital and Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children during the Christmas season to decorate gingerbread houses with the children and their families.
In June 2012 over 5,100 participants joined the fight against childhood cancer raising more than $1 million for the BC Children's Hospital. As the third largest run in Vancouver, the Annual ChildRun presented by the Wilson Family hosted runners and walkers of all ages and abilities on an exciting run through Queen Elizabeth Park or the Thrifty Foods 1 km Fun Run.
Children's Miracle Network / BC Children's Hospital Jeans Day
As part of the Children's Miracle Network, Thrifty Foods presented a cheque for $34,257 in 2012. The money was raised by all Thrifty Foods stores as part of the Annual Jeans Day and other store-level fundraising initiatives. As a dedicated Jeans Day champion, Thrifty Foods joins over 3,000 other businesses and 800 schools to make this campaign a success.
