Five Ways to Use Cooked Turkey

Cooked Turkey Sandwich
If you have leftover turkey from Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter or Sunday dinner, here are five ways to use the meat to create other tasty dishes.
  1. Grilled Sandwiches
Thinly slice and stuff cooked turkey and slices of cheese in between buttered slices of bread and grill them. The recipe for Grilled Turkey and Camembert Sandwiches in our website recipe collection deliciously uses this technique.
  2. Turkey Stew
Simmer cubes of leftover turkey with vegetables and thickened stock to make a stew. The Turkey and Vegetable Stew recipe found in our website recipe collection shows you how.
  3. Hot Turkey Sandwiches
Warm thin slices of cooked turkey in leftover gravy until heated through. Serve over a slice or two of white or whole wheat bread. To round out this diner-style supper, serve the hot sandwiches with coleslaw (sold in our deli) and French fries.
  4. Enchiladas
Turn leftover turkey into a Mexican-style dish the whole family will enjoy by shredding it, saucing it, rolling it inside tortillas and baking them. Refer to the Chicken Enchiladas recipe in our website collection to find out how to do this. Instead of slicing and cooking chicken breast as described in the recipe, replace the chicken with about 2 cups of shredded, cooked turkey meat.
  5. Turkey Rice Soup
Make a simple soup by bringing 4 cups of chicken or turkey stock to a simmer. Add 1/2 cup white long grain rice and 2 cups of diced turkey. Simmer until the rice is tender. Stir in 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables and heat through for a few minutes. Season with salt and pepper and serve. Another option is a hearty, Italian-style soup, such as our Turkey Soup with White Beans, Vegetables and Pesto.
