How to Cook Steel Cut Oats

Steel Cut Oats
Cooking versatile steel cut oats is simple, but does require a bit of patience!
  1. For 2 servings of oatmeal, place 1/2 cup in a pot with 13/4 cups water, a pat of butter and a pinch of salt. 
  2. Gently simmer until oats are tender, about 20 minutes. 
  3. Spoon into bowls and top as desired, with such things as cream, maple syrup, fruit and nuts.
