Combine the first eight ingredients in a medium bowl.
Add the thighs and turn to coat. Cover, refrigerate and marinate for four hours, or overnight, turning chicken occasionally.
Preheat barbecue to medium-high. Season the chicken with salt. Turn the heat off on one side of the barbecue. Place chicken, skin-side up, on that side of barbecue. Close the lid and cook the chicken until cooked through, about 35 minutes, or until the temperature in the deepest part of the thigh registers 170 degrees F on an instant read meat thermometer.
