How to Make Bacon Gouda Crisps

Turn ordinary soda crackers into a crowd-pleasing appetizer with just 3 added ingredients. You can even freeze the topping ahead to bake up the savoury treats whenever you like. Takes only about 5 minutes in the oven!

Step 1:

Cook 8 slices of bacon in a skillet; reserving 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) bacon fat. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 160°C (325°F). Finely chop or crumble the bacon. Place into a bowl to cool. Toss with ¾ cup (175 mL) coarsely grated Gouda cheese and 4 tsp. (20 mL) brown sugar. Drizzle the bacon fat overtop; toss to coat.

Step 2:

On foil-lined baking sheet, lay the 36 crackers in a single layer – 6 per side – with sides of crackers touching.

Step 3:

Sprinkle the bacon and cheese mixture over top. Bake 5 to 7 min., until the cheese is melted. Serve warm or at room temperature. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley or micro-green sprouts, if desired.
