How to Poach an Egg

A perfectly poached egg, with its smooth, shiny white exterior & pocket of golden yolk inside can be a bit intimidating to create. Follow these 5 steps to ensure poaching perfection!

Step 1:

Fill a deep, wide pot or skillet two-thirds full with water, simmer, then add a small splash of vinegar.

Step 2:

Crack the eggs you want to cook into individual small cups.

Step 3:

Swirl the water in the pan. That will help the egg white wrap around the yolk.

Step 4:

Gently slip the egg into the water, egg white first. Cook to desired doneness, about three minutes for soft-poached.

Step 5:

Remove egg with a slotted spoon, trim any wispy edges, drain well and serve.
