Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9" x 13" baking pan with parchment paper. Place the first 4 ingredients in a medium bowl. Add the pears and toss to coat. Set the pears, cut side down, in the baking pan. Roast 30 minutes, or until just tender. Turn the pears cut side up. Cool the pears to room temperature. (Pears could be prepared to this point several hours in advance and stored in the fridge until needed.) Set the cheese on a board. Slice and fan the pears around the cheese. If desired, serve with nuts and crackers.

Serving Suggestions

Make an extravagant cheese, fruit and nut platter by arranging the blue cheese and pear on a large board or serving platter, add a selection of cheeses, such as brie, aged cheddar and goat, fruits such as grapes, quartered fresh figs and apple slices and, a selection of mixed nuts.
