- Bring a large pot of water to a boil to cook the broccoli.
- Place the butter, orange zest and juice, and ginger in a small pot and set over medium heat. When the butter has melted, turn the heat to low and cover the mixture.
- When the water is boiling, add the broccoli and cook until just tender, about 2 to 3 minutes. Drain the broccoli well and set on a platter.
- Spoon over the butter mixture, season with salt and pepper, sprinkle with almonds and then serve.
Note: Broccoli crowns are the top portion of the plant without the stem. They are sold that way in the produce department. To toast the almonds, set them in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook, swirling the pan from time to time, until lightly toasted, about 5 minutes.
Recipe Options: Instead of broccoli, spoon and sprinkle the almonds and butter mixture over an equal amount of boiled or steamed cauliflower florets. If you do so, accent the cauliflower with a hint of green by also sprinkling it with a little chopped parsley or sliced green onion.
