Bring a large pot of water to a boil to cook the broccoli.

Place the butter, orange zest and juice, and ginger in a small pot and set over medium heat. When the butter has melted, turn the heat to low and cover the mixture.

When the water is boiling, add the broccoli and cook until just tender, about 2-3 minutes. Drain the broccoli well and set on a platter.

Spoon over the butter mixture, season with salt and pepper, sprinkle with almonds and then serve.

Note: Broccoli crowns are the top portion of the plant without the stem. They are sold that way in the produce department. To toast the almonds, set them in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook, swirling the pan from time to time, until lightly toasted, about 5 minutes.
