Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Combine the filling ingredients in a bowl and spoon into an 8-inch square baking dish. Place the topping ingredients in a second bowl and work until well combined. Sprinkle topping over the filling. Bake the crumble for 40 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Recipe Options: Instead of apples, try another type of fruit in the crumble, such as two ripe peeled peaches, pitted and cubed, or two ripe pears, cored and cubed. If you like the taste of candied ginger, finely chop two pieces of it and mix it into the topping for the crumble. Candied ginger is sold in our bulk food department.

Serving Suggestions

To make an extra special topping for the crumble, flavour lightly whipped cream with a little icing sugar and pinches of ground spice, such as nutmeg, cinnamon and clove. For a cool topping, top bowls of the crumble with a scoop of a premium-quality ice cream, such as vanilla bean or caramel.
