Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Cream butter and sugar, and then mix in eggs and vanilla. Add flour and baking soda to the butter/sugar mixture. Mix in chocolate chips and pecans. Roll cookies into 2 inch round balls, and then place on a non-stick, parchment-lined or lightly greased baking sheet. Gently press cookies down to form disks that are about a 1/2 inch thick. Bake 15-20 minutes in the middle of the oven.
Makes 20-24 cookies.
