Method

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Spread baguette slices with a thin layer of cream cheese, and then place on baking sheet. Divide and set ham on top of the cream cheese. Set an asparagus tip or two on top of the ham. Top with cheese, and then bake 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melt and the baguette is slightly crisp on the bottom. Cool slightly, and then transfer to a serving tray and enjoy.

Note: To make prepare the asparagus tips, cut off and save the top two inches of 24-48, depending in size, asparagus spears. You may wish to cut thicker spears in half lengthwise. Cook the asparagus tips in boiling water until just tender, about 2 minutes. Drain well, cool in cold water, drain well again, and pat dry. (Visit our website and type asparagus into the recipe search engine for ways to use leftover asparagus spears).

Serving Suggestions

This fairly hearty appetizer can help take the edge off ones appetite after a busy day of Christmas shopping. Serve them when you are looking for a finger food you can make earlier in the day, and quickly cook once you get home.
