Removed the skin from the chicken. Pull off the meat. Now pull that meat into shreds and set in a bowl. (The chicken can be prepared to this point several hours in advance. Cover and refrigerate until ready to reheat.)

Place the barbecue sauce, apple juice, vinegar, hot pepper sauce and Worcestershire in a wide skillet. Bring to a simmer, and then stir in the chicken. Cook 5 to 7 minutes, or until the chicken is hot. Set a lettuce leaf on each bottom bun. Divide and mound chicken on each bottom bun. Top the chicken on each bun with a slice of onion and pickle. Set on top buns and enjoy.

Options: To make chipotle pulled chicken sliders, finely chop a chipotle pepper and add it to the barbecue sauce mixture before simmering it and adding the chicken. Chipotle peppers are sold in tins in our ethic foods aisle. Store the unused peppers in a tight-sealing jar in the refrigerator. They will keep a few weeks. For ways to use them up, enter chipotle pepper into our recipe search.
