Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350˚F. Grease a 12-cup, non-stick mini muffin pan with oil spray.
  2. To make pupcakes, place flour and baking powder in a bowl and whisk to combine. In a second bowl, combine applesauce, egg and 2 Tbsp. honey. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined.
  3. Spoon 1 Tbsp. of batter into each muffin cup. Separate dog snacks into 12 equal pieces and set one in the middle of the batter in each muffin cup. Cover each dog snack with 1 Tbsp. of the remaining batter.
  4. Bake pupcakes 12 to 14 minutes, or until they spring back in the centre when gently touched. Let pupcakes cool in the pan 15 minutes, then carefully remove and set on a rack to cool.
  5. To make peanut butter bones, line a small baking pan with parchment. Preheat oven to 350˚F. Place 1/3 cup flour, peanut butter, water and 1/4 tsp. baking powder in a small bowl and mix until combined. Pick up the mix and knead until it has a Play Doh-like consistency (if it doesn’t, add a bit more peanut butter).
  6. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 2" long cylinder and form it into a dog bone shape, using the end of a skewer to make indentations on either end. Set peanut butter bones on the baking sheet and bake 10 minutes. Cool to room temperature.
  7. To finish pupcakes, combine cream cheese and honey in a small bowl. Pipe or spread on each pupcake. Top each with a peanut butter bone and serve to your dog and his or her friends.
