Combine the first 6 ingredients in your slow cooker. Place an oven rack 6" beneath the broiler. Preheat the broiler to high. Spray a non-stick baking sheet lightly with vegetable oil spray. Place the wingettes and drumettes in a bowl; toss in the remaining ingredients. Arrange the wings on the baking sheet. Broil the wings 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until nicely coloured. Add the wings to the slow cooker and stir to coat with the sauce. Cover and cook the wings on the high setting for 4 hours.

Note: This recipe is designed for an oval-shaped slow cooker with a 5 litre or more capacity.

Recipe Options: Instead of bourbon, flavour the wings with rum or Canadian whisky. For a smoky taste, add one or two finley chopped chipotle peppers to the sauce the wings are cooked in. For added flavour, sprinkle the wings with chopped cilantro or green onion just before serving.
