This dessert would pair nicely with a fine cup of Alex Campbell Signature Series coffee. There are many to choose from, such as Cafe Cumbre, an aromatic, wonderfully smooth and bright coffee from Mexico, and Black Horse Mocha Java, a pure 100% Mocha Java comprised of coffee from the Mocha region of Ethiopia and the finest estate coffee from Java.
Instead of flavouring the strawberries with cassis, a blackcurrant-flavoured liqueur, flavour them with orange-flavoured liqueur, such as Triple Sec or Grand Marnier. Rather than use mint, flavour the strawberries with 1/2 tsp of finely chopped fresh lavender. Instead of just strawberries, use a mix of berries to make this dessert, such as 1/2 lb. sliced strawberries and 1/2 cup each of fresh blueberries and raspberries.
