Cook the pasta in a generous amount of boiling, salted water until just tender - about 8 to 9 minutes. While the pasta cooks, place the sauce and stock or water in a pot and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Preheat the broiler to high.
When the pasta is cooked, drain well and place in a baking dish. Distribute the ham among the noodles. Ladle the sauce over it and top with cheese. Broil 2 to 3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
